TREATMENT

With the current research indicating that heel spurs in themselves are not painful and that the actual existence of discomfort is occurring from plantar fascial strain or plantar fasciitis as clinicians it is suggested that that is the area that we should be looking at in relieving discomfort.  Patient explanation in the past has been to explain the tensile forces placed on the plantar fascia and the result in heel spur growth now one has to consider that that is probably not a plausible argument or explanation to put to a patient.  The tensile stresses placed on a musculature surrounding the plantar fascia is questionably a more realistic explanation for the formation of a heel spur.  So where does that leave us?  We can look at treatments for plantar fasciitis as listed below.
